In pursuit of the perfect dosage

When it comes to CBD, there's no one-size-fits-all. As the way our bodies react to CBD varies from person to person, it’s really difficult to set a consistent recommended dose that will suit everyone. Instead, finding the perfect CBD dosage requires a bit of experimentation on behalf of the user and this doesn't happen overnight. 

For those just starting their CBD journey and looking for advice on dosage , Mary Biles, holistic practitioner and author of ‘The CBD Book: Essential Guide to CBD Oil’, recommends keeping a diary and building up to a “personal sweet spot”.

How to begin your CBD journey

1. Select your strength. If you haven't used CBD before, we recommend starting with the 2% (200 mg) before moving onto the 5% (500 mg).

2. Start low, go slow. Your CBD journey is personal. There's no one-size-fits-all. Start with a small dose and gradually increase as and when it feels right. 

3. Find your sweet spot. Tune into your body and mind, monitor how you feel and modify your intake to find your optimum dose.

4. Consistency is key. Once you find what makes you feel good, keep it consistent by taking it every day.

Getting the right dose of CBD

With CBD dosage, figuring out how much to take can be a challenge. As CBD is so personal, brands are unable to provide instructions for exactly what dose to use and instead, users need to experiment to find what works best for them. 

Trend forecasters LS:N Global found that younger consumers were happy trialling and testing the various use cases of CBD at their own leisure, seamlessly integrating it into their beauty and self-care regimes and experimenting with different applications and dosages.

Don't be afraid to experiment

Biles thinks this approach is encouraging. “It’s actually introducing a lot of people to having a new relationship with their health and their body because you actually have to start listening to it.”

“It involves effort and I think that’s something that we’re not used to with our health; we want something immediate and easy, but with CBD, for some people it is instant, for others it takes a while to get the dosage right, so they have to try different products, maybe different delivery methods. After all, finding the right CBD dosage is personal and what works for you may not work for another. So, feel free to experiment with different dosages and timings - just make sure that you stay within the maximum safe dose of CBD oil which is 70 mg per day, as recommended by the Food Standards Agency.
