Discussion: what are the main differences between CBD oil and CBD gummies in the UK?
As there are some key differences between CBD oil and CBD gummies, you can weigh up the differences between the two and decide which one may be best for you. You may prefer one more than the other or try taking both before making up your mind.
Why choose CBD Gummies UK?
- Extract: Broad spectrum (only CBD, no THC)
- Strength: 25 mg per gummy
- Taste: Raspberry, watermelon, tangerine and lemon flavour
- Best for: stress-busting, easing anxiety & aiding relaxation
While we recommend our CBD gummies for anxiety and stress busting during the day, some customers do take them at night, around an hour before bed to aid relaxation.
CBII CBD gummies allow for easy dosage as they contain an exact pre-measured amount of 25 mg of CBD per gummy so there’s no fuss when it comes to measuring out your dosage. This is handy if you’re someone that prefers to know exactly how much CBD you’re taking every time.
Another major difference between CBD gummies and CBD oils is the taste. Unlike the full spectrum oils that have the herbal taste of the plant which isn’t always everyone’s preference, CBD gummies are made with a broad spectrum extract.
This means that all of the cannabinoids (that tend to have a plant taste) except the CBD are removed, allowing for a great-tasting oil. What makes ours one of the best CBD gummies in the UK? They're made with natural fruit extracts and organic cane sugar and come in a mixture of four delicious flavours: raspberry, watermelon, tangerine and lemon.

Why choose full spectrum CBD Oils UK?
- Extract: Full spectrum CBD (whole plant benefits)
- Strength: 1 mg per drop (2%) to 2.5 mg per drop (5%)
- Taste: Natural, herbal taste
- Best for: Unwinding the mind and aiding a restful night’s sleep (award-winning sleep oil)
Our CBD oils are an award-winning natural sleep aid. They’ve been voted ‘Best Sleep Product’ in the 2020 and 2021 Hip & Healthy Awards. They are also great to take in the morning to set you up for the day and in the afternoon to boost focus during the midday slump.
Our CBII CBD oils allow for a more tailored dosage than our CBD gummies. With the oils in the dropper bottle, you have the freedom to experiment with different dosages to find what works for you. Our oils come in a choice of strengths: 200 mg and 500 mg (or our starter kit if you’re new to CBD) and we also have additional high-strength CBD bundles for those who are confident taking CBD.
Oils or tinctures delivered via drops under the tongue are also thought to be more rapidly absorbed by our bodies into the bloodstream as they aren’t processed via the digestive system like gummies are. This means it has what is called a higher bioavailability, so may be more effective in delivering all of the benefits of CBD. On the other hand, CBD gummies are made with broad spectrum CBD and can take up to an hour to feel the full effects.
As full spectrum CBD oils contain all of the cannabinoids found in the plant, they can result in what’s known as the entourage effect. The entourage effect is the concept that the whole plant works better than individual compounds isolated from the plant (as reported by consumers). The hemp plant contains hundreds of compounds – including biologically-active cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids – and there is some argument that these compounds might support each other and work better together.
Not sure where to start? Our Discovery Duo CBD starter kit includes a trial pack of our 2% and 5% oil strengths for just £19 – a great way to find your preferred strength before committing to full size. We're so confident you'll feel the difference that we offer 100% money-back guarantee if you don't.
Dosage guidelines: How to take CBD oil
See the below table for our CBD oil dosage guidelines. We usually recommend splitting the below dosage and taking it twice a day, such as morning and evening:
Product |
CBD per drop (0.05mL) |
Daily recommended dosage |
2% oil (200 mg) | 1 mg | 12-24 drops (12-24 mg) |
5% oil (500 mg) | 2.5 mg | 10-20 drops (25-50 mg) |
Can I take both CBD oils and gummies together?
Absolutely. You can take both our oils and our gummies together (check out our Are CBD gummies or oils higher in strength?). You may prefer to take our gummies during the day and our oils at night. Just be sure not to exceed 70 mg of CBD per day – the maximum amount as advised by the Food Standards Authority, unless recommended by a healthcare professional.
Are CBD gummies or oils higher in strength?
With any CBD product, we recommend not exceeding the maximum daily dosage of 70 mg per day, as advised by the Food Standards Agency. As CBD oils allow for a more tailored dosage, you’re able to take a higher dose of the oils (up to the full 70 mg recommendation per day if necessary) as opposed to the gummies where you can only take 50 mg per day due to its pre-measured amounts.
Which format is better for you?
CBD is completely personal, and the right format for you depends on what you’re looking to take CBD for and your personal preference between taking gummies or drops. That’s why we offer both formats you can choose the one that suits you best.
