Here at CBII, we believe in putting people and planet first. In order to achieve high-quality and sustainable products and packaging, we're careful about who we partner with and what packaging we invest in.
Our exclusive partnership with Bod Australia and Linnea SA (Australian CBD and medicinal cannabis company and their premium quality CBD producer we work with in Switzerland) is something we’re really proud of, paving the way for sustainable CBD products.
Ahead of World Environment Day, we’d love to share how CBII CBD is a sustainable brand and how our CBD products are as good for the environment as they are for you.
We use legally sourced EU hemp extracted in Switzerland to produce our CBD for ethically sourced products you can trust. The Cannabis sativa L. plant is grown and harvest adhering to GACP (Good Agricultural and Collection Practices) as per the guidelines issued by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
We use 100% recyclable hemp
At CBII, we know that the most important aspect of our products is high-quality CBD. We also want to ensure that we have sustainable, ethical and eco friendly packaging.
That’s why we wrap our CBD oils and capsules in 100% recyclable cartons made from hemp fibre from the Cannabis sativa L. plant.
In addition to our hemp-infused outer cartons, these items are also made of recyclable packaging:
Glass CBD vials (100% recyclable)
Glass capsule bottles (100% recyclable)
Pipettes (widely recyclable)
Secondary packaging, including e-commerce boxes, cartons and inserts (100% recyclable)
We use recycled
& recyclable Stoelze frosted glass
If you’re already part of the CBII family, you may have noticed that we’ve switched our products over to new sustainable packaging. Both our CBD capsules and our oils are packaged in bottles made from Stoelze frosted glass. Not only do these bottles look great, but where possible they’re made from recycled glass and are 100% recyclable.
With sustainability in mind and a focus on achieving a circular economy, Stoelze bottles (where possible) are made with a mixture of internal glass waste from their own manufacturing processes as well as recycled glass products known as PCR (Post Consumer Rejects) – essentially, consumer waste.
We love that these frosted glass jars can be recycled endlessly and regenerated to make new products. Using a closed loop production cycle, Stoelze can recycle its glass again and again.
recycle our plant waste
We work with Swiss CBD producer Linnea SA to extract our CBD before it is bottled and packed in the UK into our environmentally friendly box packaging. One of the things we love most about Linnea is that they own a self-sufficient biogas facility in Switzerland along with two local farms.
When Linnea completes the trademarked CBD extraction for our CBII products, they recycle any of the plant matter they don't use at this biogas facility. This plant waste along with manure and farming by-products are turned into renewable energy.
In fact, the facility created an impressive 2,500,000 Kw of clean, renewable energy annually, supplying enough energy to power the homes of approximately 250 local households.
Another great aspect about Linnea SA (another environmentally friendly company to support) is that they’re an active and accredited participant in ENAw, a Swiss energy strategy program that aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and energy consumption.
We use a clean and sustainable ethanol extraction method
Working with Linnea, we use a clean and sustainable ethanol extraction method that recycles over 90% of the ethanol we use during the process for sustainably produced CBD. This method is gentler and uses less chemicals than other extraction methods, making it better for you and the environment.
What’s more, all the solvents or substances used during extraction are recycled in line with requirements and reused in an environmentally friendly way.
You can reuse our products forever
While the majority of our packaging is recyclable, we encourage our customers to reuse our products for other purposes.
Some ideas include reusing our capsule bottles for storing makeup and toiletries, as a candle holder, and as a vase for flowers. Take a look at our Instagram or Pinterest for other customer's ideas. Let’s get creative!
a circular economy?
A circular economy encourages consumers to keep resources in use for as long as possible.
When they are no longer fit for purpose, they are recovered, and the materials are recycled into new products made from recycled materials and the lifecycle is continued.
a closed loop system?
A closed loop system in agriculture is a farming practise that recycles all nutrients and plant matter back into the soil that it originally grew in. This helps to preserve the nutrient and carbon levels within the soil and makes for more sustainable farming.
For example, Linnea SA’s biogas project is fuelled by both the organic waste from Linnea and the farming by-products of the local farms. This forms a sustainable closed-loop system that recycles and reuses vegetable matter.
