With CBD, it's personal

We’ve all heard about CBD, right? And we’re excited to potentially explore the role that it can play in our own lives - but where do you start? You probably have lots of questions, but trust us, it will become clearer once you understand the basics. And when you do, it helps your confidence to grow when choosing the right CBD for you. Ready? Then let’s get started.

Your life, your rules

Life is already pretty busy and demanding, so adding something new into the mix can feel a bit overwhelming. But fitting in CBD is actually really simple. You just need to decide on the right way to do it. One of our favourites is CBD oil just a few drops under your tongue or add it to your snack. You can also get CBD as a spray. Then there are CBD pre-measured capsules which might be more your thing. Ultimately, the method that speaks to you the most is the one to go for. Find out more in our blog: Find your CBD-ology.

Get out what you put in

You might think that all CBD products are the same but that isn’t the case because quality can differ hugely from brand to brand. So, when doing your research, pay big attention to quality. It doesn’t necessarily mean it will be the most expensive or contain the strongest CBD extract, but there are certain attributes to look out for when making your decision. Let’s take a look…

How it's grown

A high-quality CBD oil should come from non-GMO hemp plants that are cultivated using controlled farming procedures alongside GACP (Good Agricultural and Collection Practices). Brands like CBII use world-class manufacturing processes that comply with European GMP (Goods Manufacturing Practice) standards.

Full spectrum CBD uncovered

This is a term you will come across often in your search and is worth taking note of.

Simply put, full spectrum CBD contains all the components found naturally in the Cannabis sativa L. plant, including terpenes, flavonoids and cannabinoids, more on which you can read in our blog: A - Z of CBD. Another helpful way to recognise the purity and quality of a product is if it has third-party Certificate of Analysis.

As with everything, there’s plenty of options out there, but when you do your research and discover a brand that works for you, your decision making will be made that much easier, and you’ll end up feeling happier with your choice.

Intake & strengths

So, you’ve finally chosen a high-quality CBD brand with confidence. Now it’s time to talk about what happens next, like how much to take.

When thinking about different strengths and intakes of CBD oil, we believe you should always start your journey with the lowest recommended daily intake. Then if required, you can increase the amount slowly in accordance with directions of use. At CBII, we’ve created an easy-to-follow chart based on our oils and their different strengths that might be useful for you. You’ll see that the recommended daily intake changes with the CBD strength. For example; the stronger the CBD extract, the less drops you take.

A time for everything

Ok, as we all know, timing is everything. And the same goes for when you take your CBD. Think of it similarly to coffee consumption occasions – great to have when you’re commuting or heading into that meeting that could last forever, but as something to have just before bed? We don’t think so! Well, it’s the same for CBD. A great way to make it part of your routine is to choose a CBD product that’s nice and portable. That way, you can take it easily on the go with no disruption to your day.

It's in the taste

Seeing as we are unique human beings, each with our own set of taste buds, taste can be a very personal thing. What some people enjoy to eat and drink, others don’t. It really is as simple as that. But when it comes to a high-quality CBD oil, there are things to remember. Often described as a ‘herbal’, ‘earthy’ or ‘nutty’ taste, this is because of the terpenes which are the natural aromatic oils found in the cannabis plant. Other cannabinoids can shape the taste of the oil too. Most people don’t mind the taste of CBD oil as it’s gone within seconds from the palate. But if you really, really don’t like it, there are ways to help.

  • Food – have a little snack on stand-by to eat after dropping it under your tongue. Most foods will mask the flavour and your taste buds won’t know the difference.
  • Drink – As soon as you’ve held the drops under your tongue, have a strong-flavoured drink like fruit juice to hand. Any lingering taste will soon be shown the door.

If CBD is already part of your morning routine or bedtime ritual, you could even try taking it after you’ve brushed your teeth with a minty-flavoured toothpaste!

A final thought

Remember that getting CBD just right is going to be a very personal journey. Like anything new you explore and try out in life, it comes down to feeling confident in what you learn and discover for yourself, without feeling the need to compromise. We hope that we’ve done our bit to help you along the way… happy travels!
