It's an exciting time for those keen to embrace CBD, but with new products launching every day, there's a lot of uncertainty. To help ease anxious minds and provide curious ones with answers, here's a list of answers to frequently asked questions about CBD.

Why is CBD so popular?

CBD has burst into the public eye in a big way recently. As the use of CBD oil has been destigmatised and dissociated from recreational cannabis consumption, more people are turning to it and noticing benefits from its use.

What is cannabidiol (CBD)?

CBD is found in larger amounts in the Cannabis sativa L. species. Unlike THC, CBD is non- psychoactive and so it may not impact cognitive function. These days it can be found in everything from oils, capsules and topicals, to teas, gummies and skincare.

What part of the plant does CBD come from?

CBD is extracted from the Cannabis sativa L. plant. Unlike other CBD brands, CBII only uses the areal parts of the plant (meaning those exposed to air) and applies extraction technology to ensure that the content is consistent every time.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes or terpenoids are widely present in plants and flowers, including all cannabis variations, and are responsible for giving each strain its distinct scent.

Does CBD oil get you high?

CBD as a compound has been shown to be non-psychoactive. As CBD oil is low in the psychoactive compound THC (ours specifically has less than 0.2%), it will not make you high.

Are all CBD oil products the same?

The market is flooded with unreputable CBD products offering ‘high strength’ through dubious products. The better CBD oil products are full spectrum as they contain the complete extract with terpenes and cannabinoids. Look for CBD oil that comes from legally grown non-GMO hemp plants, promises world-class manufacturing processes and has a third-party Certificate of Analysis, like CBII.

What's the difference between CBD oils and capsules?

There's no one-size-fits-all recipe and the way you take your CBD comes down to personal preference. CBD oils usually contain a higher daily dose of CBD than the capsules and the variety of strengths can be tailored to suit your needs. CBD capsules on the other hand are convenient and easy to take on the go. They’re also tasteless and allow for better control - you know the exact amount of CBD you’re getting per capsule.

Where is CBD oil produced?

There are many countries that produce high quality CBD oil. The CBD extract used in CBII products is EU grown and manufactured under strict quality conditions in exclusive partnership with Swiss extract producer, Linnea SA.

Do you test your products?

Yes, our products are closely monitored from extract to bottle and third party tested for CBD content, ensuring batch to batch consistency and a quality product you can trust. If you would like to find out more about our tests or test results, please contact us.

What ingredients are used in CBD oil?

There are just two ingredients in CBII CBD oils, including medium chain triglycerides (MCT) and Cannabis sativa L. extract. As we use a full spectrum CBD extract, it doesn’t dissolve well in water, so we need a neutral tasting oil carrier to deliver it to you. CBII does not contain other fillers, artificial flavours and colours, giving you a simple CBD formulation.

What does CBD oil taste like?

Unflavoured CBD oil has a distinctly herbal, earthy taste. If you prefer to hide the taste, you could take your CBD oil with food, however we recommend not diluting it and applying it directly under your tongue.

How do you take CBII CBD oil?

To take CBII CBD oil, just place the drops under your tongue and hold for 30-60 seconds. For information on the recommended intake per mL, please check the packaging and read our blog: With CBD it’s personal.

What is the best time to take CBD oil?

There’s no set rule, so try different times and situations and see what works for you. We usually recommend taking CBII twice a day, directly under the tongue or with food – but not with caffeinated beverages like tea or coffee, as these potential interactions and effects between these substances needs further research.

Can CBD be taken with any other medicine?

If you are taking any medication, we recommend discussing the suitability of CBD with your healthcare professional prior to starting your CBD journey.

Can you take CBD oil and capsules together?

Yes, the capsules and the oils can be taken together but please be aware of the maximum CBD dosage per day. We’d recommend taking the lower intake suggestion for both products and monitoring how you feel.

Can you take CBD with food/added to food?

Yes, there are loads of ways which CBD can be incorporated with your daily meals. We’d recommend taking it with a high fat breakfast such as eggs, avocado or nut butter on toast, a high-fat smoothie or alongside a cup of herbal tea.

Can you have coffee and CBD oil together?

We do not recommend taking CBII CBD oil with any food or drink containing caffeine, including coffee as studies are still in their preliminary stages as to the effect of caffeine and CBD on the body. Instead, we’d recommend enjoying CBD alongside a cup of herbal tea or with a high-fat breakfast or smoothie.

Who can use CBD?

CBII CBD oils are designed for people from all walks of life. However, CBD is not suitable for children or people under the age of 18 or recommend for pregnant or breastfeeding women, people suffering from low blood pressure or taking any other medication. If you’re in any doubt, please consult a healthcare professional for advice.

How old do you have to be to use CBD?

CBII products are suitable for people over the age of 18.

Do I need a prescription for CBD oil?

As CBII products are classified as food supplements, a prescription isn’t needed. Many CBD oil products are available online and in high street health food stores, however, you should always do your research to ensure you are buying a quality product.

Is CBD safe for pets?

Our CBD products are classified as food supplements for human usage and have not been approved for use in pets. We would recommend consulting your vet before giving your fury friend CBD.

Does CBD oil expire?

The shelf life of CBD oil is relatively long - 30 months for CBII. We recommend storing your products in a cool dry place away from any moisture. Like most products, over time they lose their potency, so best not to use your CBII after the expiry date.

Why is CBD oil so expensive?

As with many other supplements, usually the higher the quality, the higher the price tag. Much relies on the method of extraction, testing methods utilised to quantify CBD content and the quality of the plant used. However, high price doesn’t always mean high reward. The popularity of CBD oil has led to an influx of ‘CBD cowboys’ trying to make a quick profit with low quality CBD oil advertised as high strength. Always do your research.

Is CBD oil vegan?

Our CBII CBD oils are suitable for vegans and vegetarians, however our capsules are not as they contain bovine gelatine.

Is CBD oil halal?

CBII’s CBD oil does not contain any animal products, however we are not currently certified halal.

Can I cook with CBD oil?

We recommend not cooking or baking with CBD oil. Heat can break down the compounds, making it lose its potency. Always use CBD oil as directed on the label.

Can I travel with CBD?

The laws surrounding CBD differ from country to country and are changing constantly. If you are traveling outside the UK, we always recommend checking your destination’s laws before flying, just to be safe.

Is CBII CBD packaging recyclable?

CBII CBD products are packaged in cartons made from 100% recyclable hemp. Our e-commerce boxes, frosted glass bottles, and vials are also widely recyclable in household recycling programs, however the lid, pipette, seal and desiccant of the capsules are not. You can read more about how we recycle in our sustainable products blog
